Cupertino Electric and Penta Technologies win 2013 Constructech Vision Award

Honor recognizes specialty contractor’s adoption of construction document management software

October 10, 2013

Milwaukee, WI -- Electrical engineering and construction firm Cupertino Electric, Inc. was awarded a Constructech Vision Award last week for their innovative use of PENTA document management software and its workflow capabilities.

PENTA is Construction ERP Software from Penta Technologies. Woven into PENTA is Enterprise Content Management (PENTA ECM). PENTA ECM captures, manages, stores, preserves, and delivers content across a construction enterprise. Penta Technologies was jointly recognized at the awards ceremony as a Technology Enabler.

Cupertino Electric uses PENTA ECM in their operation to address process challenges, including invoice processing and lien release management. Their innovative use of document management and workflows has enabled the company to maintain momentum and realize benefits with each new workflow implemented. As each new workflow solution is implemented, the benefits to the organization compound as the types of documents in the system, the number of users, and the number of problems solved all increase.

Improved Working Environment for Cupertino Employees

By incorporating document management and workflows into their daily operations, the working environment has improved for Cupertino team members.

“Cupertino’s processes have been honed by 60 years of experience, but required a lot of institutional knowledge about what to do at any given step of the process,” said Bill Diekmann, Cupertino Electric’s Director of Information Technology.  “The use of electronic workflows is speeding up employees’ ability to respond from wherever they happen to be to ensure consistent processes are followed throughout the organization to improve productivity and profitability.”

Organizational Benefits

The primary benefit that Cupertino Electric has seen following the implementation of certain electronic workflows within the organization is that their geographic and market growth is not dependent upon commensurate back-office growth. The company can expand farther, faster by relying on a solid workflow infrastructure that promotes consistency and speed.

Constructech magazine honored all of the Vision Award winners during its annual Technology Day conference in Santa Clara, California, with awards across numerous technology categories and construction trades. Accepting the Technology Enabler award alongside Bill Diekmann was Karl Koenig, Penta Technologies’ President and CEO.

"Cupertino Electric is at the forefront of how growth-oriented construction firms adopt and apply technology," said Koenig. "It's very rewarding to see the positive impact contractors like Cupertino Electric are seeing in their organizations. We are honored to be recognized and support Cupertino’s success.”
